Cliff Drysdale and Patrick McEnroe just discussed the early tennis of Federer on ESPN's coverage of from Shanghai. Federer loved to hit against the garage door or against any wooden wall inside. It drove his mother nuts.
Can anyone point to a great, or even very good tennis player, who hasn't spent hundreds or thousands of hours hitting against a wall or backboard of some kind? Without such training, can players master tennis?
